Why Does My PC Shut Down When I Close the Case While Gaming?

I've got four fans installed in my computer, but I notice my PC shuts down during gaming if I put the case cover on. When I leave it off, everything runs fine. I've tried setting up airflow based on tutorials, but I'm wondering if there are other ways to keep my PC cool without leaving the case open. Should I just resort to using an electric fan to help with cooling?

Make sure your fans are configured to create proper airflow. Check if you have enough exhaust fans compared to intake. Ideally, you might want to have an equal number or slightly more intake than exhaust to avoid heat buildup. A YouTube video on optimizing fan setup might help too!

Yeah, airflow balance is key! I once had all my fans set to intake, and it caused the same problem until I fixed it.

It sounds like one of your components is overheating, and just having fans isn't always enough. Make sure to check the actual temperature of your CPU and GPU with monitoring software. You may need to replace old thermal paste or fix a cooler if they're too hot. Also, more details about your build would help to diagnose the issue better!

Definitely keep an eye on the temps! I've had similar issues before, and it turned out my GPU was old and needed new thermal pads. Good luck!

Don't overlook the PSU, either. If it's failing, it might not be able to power your components efficiently when under load, like during gaming. It could contribute to the shutdowns you're experiencing.
