I'm trying to connect my Mac M4 Mini to an HP Envy 27-P014 monitor and I'm curious if the camera and microphone will function properly. I've seen mixed information online suggesting they might not work since they seem to be segregated from the HDMI input. If anyone has experience or knows for sure, I'd appreciate your input! Thanks!

Yeah, I think you're on the right track. Most of the time, integrated peripherals like cameras and mics on monitors don't communicate well with Macs. You might luck out, but it’s safer to have a backup plan with external options.

Sounds like a fun project! Just a heads up, though: integrating a webcam with macOS can be tricky, especially with third-party monitors. I would recommend testing it out first, and if it doesn’t work, consider getting a USB webcam that's guaranteed to be compatible.

From what I've read, the camera and microphone on your HP Envy probably won't work with macOS since those features are often linked through USB or specific connections, not just through HDMI. You might need to look into using an external camera and mic if those are important for your setup.
