Which CPU Should I Choose: 5600X or 13600K?

I'm on a budget of around ₹88K ($930) and recently picked up a used RTX 3080 for ₹24K ($266). I'm considering two CPU options: a used 14600K for about ₹15K ($166) or a new 5600X, which is similarly priced. However, I'm struggling to find a compatible motherboard for the 14600K, which would cost around ₹15K as well. If I opt for the 5600X, I can save about ₹100 on the cooler and motherboard since it doesn't need as much power as the 14600K does. My question is, how much will the 5600X bottleneck the 3080, and should I stick with an 850W PSU, or would a 750W be sufficient since the 5600X uses less power? Here's a quick look at my current build: RTX 3080: $266, 14600K: $166, MSI B760M A Pro DDR4 Motherboard: $166, MSI MAG 850W PSU: $100, Peerless Assassin 120 Cooler: $50, Zebronics Cube Case: $30, MSI MAG Monitor: $170, DDR4 16GB RAM: $60 (already have NVMe SSD), aiming for 1440p at 200hz performance.

If you're fixed on DDR4, then the 14600K is a good choice, but you'll need a decent cooler for it. If you're considering switching to a newer platform, look into AM5 motherboards and CPUs, just keep in mind how high DDR5 prices are right now.

Yeah, the 13600K is more on par with something like the 7600, so it's definitely a solid choice for future-proofing your setup a bit longer!

You could get a brand new 5600 for around ₹11K. A B550M motherboard would suffice for that. The 5600 won't bottleneck the RTX 3080 when gaming at 1440p since the load shifts to the GPU in those scenarios. Stick with the 850W PSU for headroom.

True, but don't forget the 1% and 0.1% lows can be affected, especially in CPU-intensive games.

Honestly, getting a 3080 for so cheap is a steal! If you're trying to upgrade all parts, consider investing in more RAM and the 5700X or 5800X if you have the budget later.

If it were me, I'd go with the 13600K. It offers better performance overall, especially in more demanding scenarios. It might be worth it, even though the platform will be phased out eventually.
