Hey everyone! I'm new here and need some advice. My 18-year-old daughter has decided she wants a gaming computer, despite not being a huge gamer herself. I want to make sure I'm making a good investment, and while I'm open to spending a good amount—up to around $5k—I'd prefer to spend less if possible. What should I look for, and are there specific components or brands I should consider? Thanks in advance!

Before diving into specs, it would really help to know what games she’s considering. Different games require different hardware. Is she thinking about something like Minecraft or more graphics-heavy titles like Red Dead Redemption? That can really guide your choices!
If you want solid performance without breaking the bank, consider a build with an RX 7800 XT GPU, a Ryzen 7 7700 CPU, and a 1TB Samsung 980 SSD. A 32GB DDR5 RAM would be great if you can get CL 30-34 for speed, and Corsair's 750W power supply should keep everything running smoothly. You should definitely be able to get all this for under $1500, which is a win since you have a good budget!
She might prefer blue parts instead of pink, but I appreciate these specs!
Honestly, whatever she can manage to buy or build for herself will be the best. Having her invest in it might help her appreciate it more and take better care of it!
I wish that were an option, but we’re not going that route.
She's interested in games like Minecraft and some Steam games she can enjoy with friends and cousins.
