My friend's son is looking to build a PC primarily for Fortnite. I'm curious to hear opinions on this build I've put together and whether it will be good for both Fortnite and potentially other games in the future. Here's the setup I've designed:
- **CPU:** Intel Core i5-12600KF 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor
- **Cooler:** Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM
- **Memory:** Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR4-3200
- **Alternate Memory Option:** Corsair Vengeance RGB RS 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR4-3200
- **Storage:** Silicon Power UD90 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVME SSD
- **Video Card:** XFX Swift OC Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB
- **Case:** Lian Li Vector V100R ATX Mid Tower
- **Power Supply:** Corsair CX 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified
The total comes out to approximately $1463.63. What do you think?

What country are you in, and do you already own any of the parts listed here? Your budget seems solid at around $1500, but it’s always better if you can get it lower. Adjusting some components based on what's available in your area can really help!
Make sure your PCPartPicker link is correct; it seems off. You can streamline it by using a permalink or creating a table of your components. A cleaner layout helps others jump in with suggestions!
You need to think about future-proofing! If the son is only into Fortnite right now, sure, this build is more than enough for 1080p. But gaming trends change, so you might want to consider something that can handle 1440p gaming in a year. If he switches to more demanding titles, you don’t want him stuck with a setup that can’t keep up!
What upgrades do you suggest for better future-proofing?
If he’s only playing Fortnite, does he really need this high-end build? You might be overshooting his needs here! Sometimes simpler setups are perfectly capable of running Fortnite without breaking the bank.
Yeah, that was my thought too. He might've been a little shy about what he really wants.
The CPU and RAM prices seem a bit off, and you might want to check if you've included a motherboard since that's crucial! If you're aiming for Fortnite at 1080p, this build is definitely overkill, but it'll handle other games well too. If you're looking to save some cash, consider a cheaper CPU and RAM combo. I put together a modified list that comes out to around $1230.85 where I swapped for a different cooler and added a motherboard. You can check it out and see what you think!
Yeah, I hear you on the pricing. In Saudi Arabia, it seems like shipping issues have really inflated prices recently, which makes building a PC a lot harder.

I haven't bought anything yet! Trying to stick to that budget while covering everything needed.
