What Motherboard Should I Choose for My Ryzen 5 5500 Setup?

I'm in the process of upgrading my old PC, which has an FX-8350, GTX 1070, and 16GB of DDR3 RAM. I've recently received 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a Ryzen 5 5500, and I'm planning to keep the GTX 1070. I've got a 750-watt power supply, and I'm looking to spend a maximum of $130 on a motherboard. This upgrade is primarily for light gaming and I'm located in the United States. Any recommendations?

You should definitely aim for a decent B550 motherboard, priced around $90-$100. Here's a link to one I found: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4bqPxr/asus-prime-b550-plus-ac-hes-atx-am4-motherboard-prime-b550-plus-ac-hes. Just make sure your cooler can handle the 5500 since it can overclock nicely to around 4.6GHz! If you need a new cooler, the Thermalright Burst Assassin is a solid pick for about $20.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check out that motherboard.

If you're looking to save a bit, consider the ASUS Prime B450M-A II. It’s compatible with your CPU and offers four RAM slots for future upgrades. Plus, it has a BIOS Flashback button which is great for Zen 3 setups!

If you’re using an mATX case, you might look into the Asus Prime B550 WiFi or the MSI B550M PRO VDH WiFi. For an ATX case, the Gigabyte B550 Gaming WiFi is a great choice as well.
