How can I delete stubborn .sys files from my PC?

I've been trying to uninstall some .sys files, specifically GungHoNet.sys and xhunter1.sys, without success. I've used various methods, including Unlocker and others I found online, but nothing seems to work. I was able to remove their permissions, and they don't seem to impact my computer anymore, but I still can't delete them. Even running as an administrator and taking ownership of the files leads to the same error message. Is it even legal to have such invasive software on a PC?

These files sound suspiciously like malware. I recommend scanning your system with Malwarebytes and then booting into safe mode to try deleting them.

If you're certain you don’t need those files, try creating a live USB with a Linux distribution. Boot from that and you should be able to delete the files without any restrictions. There are plenty of guides online for making a bootable USB with Linux.

A quick search shows that those files might be part of a kernel-level anti-cheat system. Instead of trying to delete them directly, you should uninstall the game and the anti-cheat software first.
