I'm trying to fix a mouse dongle that keeps coming apart from its USB port. I don't have superglue on hand, but I do have a hot glue gun. Will using hot glue be safe for the dongle, or could it potentially melt any components?

You should be fine using hot glue since it cools really fast once it’s out of the gun. Just make sure to clean the surface first with some rubbing alcohol to help the glue stick better.
No need to worry! Many manufacturers actually use hot glue on connectors to make sure they don’t come loose during shipping. It won’t harm the electronics.
Hot glue won't hurt the electronic parts, but if you want a sturdier fix, I’d recommend superglue. I’ve done similar repairs before and found superglue to be much cleaner and effective.
While hot glue generally won’t damage the electronics, it may not be the best solution. It's tricky to get a clean application in tight spaces, so you might end up with some excess glue that could interfere with the fit of the dongle.
It's highly unlikely the hot glue will damage anything electronic, but plastics could be a concern. Low temps are safer, and if you have it, epoxy might be a better option for a strong bond without heat issues.
Exactly, I used to work for a high-end PC company and we used hot glue on connectors like SATA plugs to keep them secure. It’s safe and can be removed later!
