Steam Client Keeps Crashing: Seeking Help with My Games

I'm really struggling with my Steam client crashing every time I try to launch a game, and it's driving me crazy since I barely have access to my game library. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting methods, including checking for updates on Windows and my graphics drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled various Visual C++ redistributables as well. I don't run any other programs while launching a game, turned off overlays, and checked that NVIDIA isn't optimizing any games, all in hopes of fixing this issue. Yet nothing seems to help!

The strange part is that when I launch games through the Epic Games launcher, they run without issues, but Steam just refuses to cooperate. I've also checked my computer for memory problems, scanned for viruses, and I haven't found anything out of the ordinary.

I'm also concerned that my laptop might need cleaning as it's around ten years old, but I'm hesitant to open it up. I'm a parent to a 15-month-old, so I really don't have a lot of time to troubleshoot. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. My laptop is a Predator Helios 300.

You should definitely check for dump files if you can access Windows normally or through Safe Mode. They can be found in C:WindowsMinidump. Zipping those files and uploading them will help anyone assist you further by analyzing the crash logs. If you don’t see anything there, try following a guide to adjust how dump files are created. It might give more clues as to what’s going wrong.

Have you considered reinstalling Steam? A good way to do this is to go into the Steam installation folder and delete everything except for the 'steamapps' folder and 'steam.exe'. After you've done that, try running 'steam.exe' again. This is kind of a reinstallation that might fix any corrupted files. If this doesn’t help, you might need to look at whether something like the Steamworks API is corrupted, which could also be causing your games to crash. Let me know if this helps!

I actually tried this a few times, but unfortunately, it didn’t change anything for me.

Before anything else, have you run a comprehensive malware scan? Sometimes malware can mess with your system in unforeseen ways, leading to issues like crashes. It wouldn't hurt to check just to eliminate that possibility!
