Why Can’t I Use a Paintbrush on My Phone’s Touchscreen?

I was painting today and decided to put my paintbrush on my phone screen, but it didn't work. I even tried putting my finger on the brush before touching the screen, but it still didn't register. However, when I directly touched the phone with my finger, it worked just fine. What's going on? Help! Thanks, Cornwallace

Honestly, your finger is just way more conductive than that paintbrush! That's why it can interact with the touchscreen properly, while the brush can't do anything. It's all about conductivity, buddy!

Touchscreens are designed to respond to the unique conductive properties of human fingers. If they were to respond to non-conductive items, they'd accidentally register touches all the time, like when they're in your pocket or on a table. There's a reason they work best with fingers!

Lol maybe you should just get a Palm Pilot instead!

The reason your paintbrush isn't working with your phone is that touchscreens, especially capacitive ones, rely on the conductivity of your finger. When you touch the screen, it disrupts the electrostatic field created by the touchscreen's conductive coating. A paintbrush, being non-conductive, doesn't create the same effect, so it won't register as a touch.
