I'm in the process of planning a gaming PC for my living room, mainly for single-player games but I might dabble in multiplayer from time to time. I'll be using a 4K TV for gaming, and I'm okay with using upscaling if necessary. The setup will be paired with an RTX 5080. Choosing the 7600X3D could save me about £240 overall, partly because I'd feel more comfortable getting a less expensive Asrock motherboard with it, unlike the 9800X3D due to concerns about frying chip issues. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this setup!

Honestly, the ASRock issues have been resolved for months now, and out of millions sold, only about 14 chips reportedly died. I think you'll be fine going with the 9800X3D if you really want it.

Looking at the ASRock forums, I'm not so sure it’s that clear-cut.
Instead of going with the 7600X3D, you might want to consider the 7800X3D. If the frying chips worry you, maybe try undervolting your CPU for safer performance.
Your numbers seem a bit off. Check out this update regarding the dead 9800X3Ds for a better idea.
