I used to have a similar problem until I discovered it was caused by a swollen battery in my laptop that was pressing against the keyboard from underneath. Cleaning under the keys also helped a ton, but be cautious not to break those little plastic tabs when removing them.
It could be that your W key is sticking, especially if you're using a membrane keyboard. You might want to clean it out using some canned air or isopropyl alcohol. Make sure your character really starts moving as soon as you press the W key. It might be an input or display lag issue. You could test this by quickly tapping jump or shoot; if there's a noticeable delay between pressing and seeing the action on screen, that's likely your problem.
If you're using a wireless keyboard along with other wireless devices like a mouse or headset, that could also contribute to the issue.
