I'm about to upgrade my system from a 4060 Ti 8GB to a 5070 12GB, and I'm also considering moving from a Ryzen 5 5600G to a Ryzen 7 5800X. I've been gaming at 1080p for the past three years, but I've heard that sticking with 1080p won't let me fully utilize my new components. I've seen some great deals on 1440p monitors with higher refresh rates than my current one. I play a variety of games including Overwatch, Rivals, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Last of Us 2. While Overwatch runs smoothly, the other games struggle with performance. If I upgrade my GPU and CPU but keep my 1080p monitor, will it negatively impact my gaming experience?

1440p is amazing, and honestly, you might even be able to run a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor. It completely transforms the gaming experience!
It's all about the balance between GPU and CPU. You want to make sure your CPU won't slow down the awesome power of your new GPU!
Yeah, using a 5070 with a 1080p monitor would definitely be underwhelming. You should absolutely consider upgrading to 1440p!
Your GPU can definitely handle 1440p, but make sure you get the 5800X. You want to avoid any CPU bottlenecks that could hold back your performance.
If you can, look for a 3D chip like the 5600X3D instead of the 5800X. It could give you some extra performance. Just keep in mind that those chips can be hard to find right now.

Thank you! I'm leaning toward making that switch now.
