Why Does My PC Keep Restarting Randomly?

I'm having a problem where my PC restarts unexpectedly, almost like I've hit the restart button. It tends to happen often when I'm gaming, but just recently it restarted while I was at the main menu of "The Long Dark". Sometimes it even restarts when I'm just sitting on the desktop without doing anything. Here are my specs:

- Intel Core i5 6600
- Fujitsu D3401-A motherboard
- 16GB DDR4 RAM (4x4GB)
- SilentiumPC Supremo L2 PSU 650W GOLD
- ASUS Phoenix GTX 1060 3GB
- 512 GB SATA SSD

Additionally, I'm using an adapter to connect the PSU to the motherboard (24 to 16 pin).

It sounds like you might have issues with the power supply setup. With the PSU and the adapter being two potential weak points, it's worth investigating both. Even if the PSU is new and from a reputable brand, the adapter could still cause problems if it’s not functioning correctly or is incompatible. I'd recommend checking for any visible damage on the adapter and trying to eliminate it temporarily to see if that resolves the restarts.

You mentioned getting a kernel power error before; that’s typically related to power issues. It could also point to overheating or hardware conflicts. Monitoring your temperatures while gaming could help, and make sure that all your drivers are up to date. Sometimes a simple driver update can resolve random restarts.
