My MacBook Charging Ports Have Failed—What Should I Do?

I bought my MacBook about two years ago, and around a year in, one of the charging ports stopped working—probably because something got stuck in it. Now, I just discovered that the second port has also stopped functioning! My battery is dead and I'm really stressed about it. I don't want to spend a fortune on repairs. Does anyone have advice? It was charging fine half an hour ago, and then suddenly stopped.

If you're using a newer MacBook and the MagSafe isn't working, try using a compatible USB-C charger. Also, sometimes, if your MacBook just pauses charging, that can be normal. Check your menu bar for any notifications that might explain what's happening.

Are you talking about the charging port? First, try getting another charger to see if that works with your Mac. If it does, then either your charger brick or the cable is the problem. You can also swap out the new cable with your existing one to check which one is faulty. Plus, if you search online for troubleshooting Mac charging issues, you'll find tons of helpful guides!

Yeah, I meant the charging port. My Mac has a USB-C port.

I already tried four different chargers, and they work fine with my phone but not the laptop.

Have you tried different charger bricks in addition to just the cables? Sometimes it’s the brick that fails instead of the cable.
