I just got a new HP laptop that's running Windows 11, but I'm having trouble downloading Chrome and some other programs for work because it's stuck in S mode. I've tried following the instructions to turn off S mode, but the Windows Store app keeps crashing. I've even reset my PC, changed the user account, and reinstalled, but nothing seems to work. Any advice?

I’d recommend checking out a YouTube video that walks you through disabling S mode without needing the Store app. The second half covers how to access recovery mode and use regedit, which might be just what you need!
If you can’t get it to work through the Store, it might be worth considering a full wipe of the PC and doing a fresh install. I suggest using the Microsoft media creation tool to create a USB installer. The out-of-the-box image can have a lot of bloat, so this could be a good chance to start fresh!
I found that a quick Google search for "Disable S Mode Windows 11" leads to a helpful Microsoft support page. You might want to check it out to see if there’s a workaround, even though the Store app crashes on you. Maybe try accessing it directly from a browser instead of through the Store?
Yeah, I tried that too. But unfortunately, I just end up in the same crash loop when I try to load the page.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did see that video but was hoping for an easier method.
