Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind and need your advice. I'm trying to figure out if my work laptop, a ThinkPad, is compatible with the new Studio Display. To do that, I want to bring my Thunderbolt 4 dock to the Apple Store and test it, but when I went there, the staff told me there are no available plugs around the display for testing. Since I live far from an Apple Store, I thought it would be easier to test it there and return it if it doesn't work. So, are there any plugs available near the Genius Bar? Just trying to get some clarity here. Thanks!

I used to work as a lead genius at an Apple Store for a decade, and I've never had an issue with customers wanting to plug their devices in. Normally, as long as it’s not a hard drive, they shouldn't have a problem with you testing your setup. I suggest you ask for a store leader or manager when you’re there; they can usually make exceptions! Good luck!
It's unfortunate they said no, but remember, sometimes they miss common sense solutions like letting you test it out. If you see a Genius Bar nearby, don't hesitate to ask. Just be polite, and they often accommodate requests like this!
If the staff already said no, it might be a bit tricky, but stores can change their policies. You could explain your situation and see if anyone at the Genius Bar can help. Just keep in mind they might have rules about public access to plugs.
