Hi folks,
I'm dealing with some stuttering issues in newer games while gaming at 3440x1440 ultrawide with my Ryzen 9 5900X and RTX 3070. I'm considering a significant upgrade, specifically looking at NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080. I'm leaning towards the 5080 for longevity at Ultra settings with Ray Tracing, but my budget is about 2000€, which means I also need to think about upgrading my CPU.
I want to avoid bottlenecks in CPU-heavy games like Arma 3 and Battlefield 6. Plus, I want to push high FPS in demanding titles such as God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077, as well as improve emulation performance for games like God of War Ascension.
I'm sticking with DDR4 due to high DDR5 prices in Spain. For the CPU, I'm open to AMD or Intel, considering options like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Ryzen 7 5700X3D, and Intel's i7 models. I'm looking for a good performance-to-thermal-efficiency ratio since I'm using a BeQuiet Pure Loop 2 FX 360mm AIO for cooling.
Should I invest more in the RTX 5080 and take a slightly less powerful CPU, or is it better to go for the 5070 Ti and a higher-end CPU? Any advice or real-world experiences would be super helpful!

If you can find the Ryzen 7 5800X3D at a decent price, you might want to hold onto your 5900X for now. The RTX 5070 Ti is a solid choice—while the 5080 offers a bit more performance (like 10-15% more), that might not justify the higher cost for you. Both GPUs should be treated similarly for driver updates, so consider the 5070 Ti to keep budget-friendly while upgrading the CPU separately.

I disagree! The 5900X isn’t cutting it for today’s games and isn’t leveraging your potential new GPU well. A newer CPU is worth the investment. You might find that even a decent mid-range Intel option like the i7-13700K can do wonders, especially for demanding titles.
