Why is my laptop lagging after recent repairs?

I need some help with my laptop. It started lagging a lot after I had it repaired for hinge and charging port issues. Now, it lags every 30 seconds or so. My cousin thinks it might be a virus, but even after I removed what I found and reset my laptop by deleting everything and reinstalling Windows, the lag is still there. I'm really at a loss for what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

That consistent lag after reinstalling Windows points more towards a hardware issue than a virus. It might be worth taking your laptop back to the repair shop. There could be a loose connection, a failing SSD, or maybe something affecting the cooling. They should be able to do a thorough check of the internal components for you.

I agree! I think it’s a hardware issue too, but my cousin is convinced it’s a virus. It’s frustrating because it’s affecting my school work, and I'm not sure how to convince them.

It sounds like your laptop's lag might be due to overheating. When the CPU gets too hot, it can cause performance issues like that. You could check if the fans are working properly or if there’s a lot of dust inside blocking airflow.
