Hey everyone! I recently installed Malwarebytes after I downloaded a Trojan file that changed my login info on several accounts, including Microsoft. They've told me I can't regain access because my security info was altered. Now, I'm seeing that Malwarebytes is flagging my chrome.exe as a potentially risky file, and I don't understand why that's happening. Also, is Malwarebytes really worth the subscription price? I already use Windows Defender and I'm trying to remove all these strange files, but it's hard to tell if everything's gone since it indicates there are no threats after quarantine.

Honestly, if you’re considering paying for Malwarebytes, I say just delete it. You really don’t need it if you’ve got Windows Defender.
Honestly, Chrome does have vulnerabilities that could be risky. There are alternatives out there that might be safer for you. What do you usually look for in a browser?
I love the Chrome UI, but I’m open to suggestions!
Just to clarify, chrome.exe is a file and not a website. Can you specify what's getting blocked? Is it the executable file itself, or is it a particular domain or IP associated with Chrome? That’ll help clarify the situation.
I agree! More info would definitely help figure out what's going on.
Listen, many people find Malwarebytes to be just unnecessary overhead. Windows Defender does a good job on its own, and adding another layer can sometimes slow your system down. Just curious, how did you end up downloading that Trojan? It’s not everyday you get hacked unless you’re downloading sketchy files!
Yeah, in retrospect, it was from a shady site I used to trust for Sims 3 DLC. Usually, I’m careful, but mistakes happen.
Malwarebytes isn’t bloat—it can actually be useful, but everyone has their own preferences.

That doesn’t really help though. You should explain your reasoning next time!
