Help! My WiFi Keeps Disconnecting After Power Outages

I've been struggling with my computer's WiFi connection for quite some time now, especially after power outages. Whenever the power goes out, my WiFi shows 'No Internet Secured,' and it can take anywhere from minutes to days for it to work again. I've done all the troubleshooting I can find online, like resetting the IP configuration, enabling file sharing, and even buying a WiFi chip, but nothing seems to stick. The strange part is that my PC can still connect to my mobile hotspot, just not my home WiFi. I'm worried it might be a hardware issue, possibly my motherboard, but I can't afford a new computer. Any advice on how to get my WiFi working consistently after these outages?

You might want to set a static DNS in your adapter settings instead of relying on your ISP's. That might help improve your connection stability. Also, try managing your known networks and remove your WiFi, then reconnect it; that can sometimes jog it back to life. Additionally, check your DHCP settings to ensure you have enough IPs for your devices.

Just a heads-up—if you're running Windows 10, make sure you have it updated! While there are no more major updates coming, September 2025 is still a bit away for critical security stuff. You might want to be extra careful with sensitive tasks like banking until you're fully up to date. No updates could leave you vulnerable!

I've been okay since they stopped updating. My antivirus is still functioning, and all my drivers are current, so I think I'm safe for now.

Windows 10 is still getting some updates until October next year if you opt in. It's a good idea to keep it updated as much as possible!

Consider investing in a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). It can protect your hardware from damage during outages and might help prevent these WiFi issues in the future. If you're still having problems after that, consider reinstalling Windows to see if that fixes any underlying issues. You could be looking at a fried WiFi adapter, but take the steps to safeguard against outages first!
