I purchased this old laptop from my school after graduating, but I'm having trouble activating Windows. I can't find the product key, and when I try to activate it, I get an error message saying "we can't connect to your organization's activation server." Is there a workaround for this?

If you're looking for a straightforward solution, try reinstalling Windows using a USB stick. It's a clean way to get your system back in shape.

If it’s really no longer linked to the school, just buy a new license key. The school’s license should have removed it from their pool.

Unfortunately, you might hit a brick wall unless the school releases it from their management system. If they still have the laptop under control, you won’t be able to activate it without their approval. But if they claimed it’s free from management, then you might just be running a version of Windows Enterprise, which may need a specific key. First, I recommend wiping the laptop and doing a fresh install of Windows. Make sure to do this while connected to the internet, as it might ask for a school account during setup. If that happens, don’t buy a license; it will be a waste of money.
