I'm in the process of building a new PC, and I'm contemplating whether I should upgrade my CPU from a 5600X to a 5800X. My current 5600X is handling all the games I play quite well, but since I'm upgrading my GPU from a 3060 Ti to a 9070 XT, I'm concerned about potential CPU bottlenecks, especially with more demanding simulation games like Cities Skylines 2. I usually focus on light gaming, often opting for older or indie titles, so I'm wondering if this upgrade is necessary or if I should stick with my current setup for the time being.

Upgrading to the 5800X may only be worth it if you find an amazing deal or if you're doing intensive work on your PC. For just gaming, your current setup seems to be doing just fine.
The 5600X is a solid CPU. For most gaming scenarios at higher resolutions, the CPU bottleneck will be minimized. Focus on enjoying your gaming experience at 1440p/4k without sweating over every benchmark.
Unless you're getting an x3D chip, you probably won't see much of a difference. The current prices for AM4 x3D CPUs can be steep, so sticking with your 5600X while saving for a potential AM5 upgrade might be the best path.
I can swing an AM5 setup, but why spend $3000+ when my gear works just fine?
Honestly, if your 5600X is performing well, there's no rush to upgrade just for the sake of it. Try out your new GPU first, and only consider upgrading the CPU if you notice any issues. A lot of the bottleneck discussions stem from marketing rather than real-world performance.
"Bottlenecking" feels a bit overhyped these days.
Thanks for your advice!
Don't stress about the CPU until you genuinely feel the need to upgrade. You're asking important questions, but give your current setup some time before making a decision.
I appreciate the understanding!

Got it, thanks! That eases my mind.
