My Samsung EVO Plus 64GB microSD Card Isn’t Being Recognized—Help!

I recently purchased a Samsung EVO Plus 64GB microSD card along with a SanDisk USB 3.0 MobileMate reader. After putting the microSD straight from the box into the USB reader and connecting it to my PC, it doesn't seem to recognize the card. In Disk Management, it shows up as Disk 1 (D:), but it states 'No Media'. I also tried it in my 3DS, and it failed to recognize the card there too. I'm really needing assistance with this issue!

I had a similar issue. I removed the microSD and gave the USB reader a quick blow to clear out any dust or debris, then plugged it back in with Disk Drill open and it finally recognized the card. After restarting my PC, it showed up in Disk Management too. It seems to be working now, but I wonder if I'll have problems later since I was worried it might be a dodgy card.

Given that you have a reputable EVO card, it should be fine—especially if it came with an SD adapter. Sometimes the hotplug feature on Windows can be a bit flaky. If it’s still giving you trouble, consider exchanging it!

Check where you bought the card. There's a chance that it might be a dead unit or even a counterfeit. Usually, fake SD cards show incorrect storage, but some can be completely non-functional from the start. Super frustrating, I know! Good luck getting it sorted out!
