I messed up and downloaded what I thought was an ad blocker similar to uBlock Origin, but it turned out to be something called Ublockdns.com. I downloaded it via Safari, which opened in settings and asked for permissions with my passcode. I allowed it for around 5 minutes before I realized it was the wrong app and deleted it. I've since found a post saying it wasn't safe, and it's made me panicky! I deleted the app, updated my iPhone to the latest iOS, and even restarted it. I've contacted Apple Support, and they suggested I do a factory reset of my phone. I'm in the process of erasing my data and have backed up my important stuff like contacts and photos to iCloud. Is it safer to perform the data erase with the iCloud backup, or should I just wipe everything clean for certainty? I also have an iPad linked to the same Apple ID; should I do anything with that? I'm a bit worried because I've noticed some odd Bluetooth suggestions and a few of my passwords might be compromised. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No, there's a very slim chance your iPhone has a virus from that app. Don't stress too much about it, just focus on your backups and resetting if needed. Your iPad should be safe too; it's unlikely anything has transferred over.
You can follow this link to remove the DNS profile if that's all it is: https://adguard-dns.io/kb/private-dns/solving-problems/remove-dns-profile/. Just do this step first, and it should clear up some of your worries.
No worries! Thanks for attending my TED talk on iPhone safety! Seriously though, you got this.
You're probably fine! It’s unlikely you have a virus. Just make sure your iCloud backup is complete before erasing your device, and check if all your photos are synced to iCloud. You don’t need to erase anything before the backup; that could lead to data loss. Just be patient, let iCloud handle the backup, and remember to secure your account by reviewing your security settings.
This is all unnecessary for a simple DNS profile. Just go to your settings and remove the profile.
Thank you so much for the help!
