Should I Upgrade My Crucial E100 SSD or Stick With It?

I bought a gaming PC about three months ago, featuring a 9070XT, 9700x processor, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, along with a Crucial E100 SSD. I've read that the Crucial E100 is a QLC SSD with only 80 TBW. Although I run Windows 11 and play several AAA games, I haven't experienced any major performance issues so far. Should I consider upgrading my SSD or can I keep using it without concerns?

Your SSD might slow down a bit over time, but you're not at immediate risk of losing data. Keep using it until it becomes annoying for your gaming needs. Just monitor your speeds, and you can always upgrade later if needed.

I hope you didn’t just post this after watching a recent video about SSDs! But I get your concern. If it’s been bothering you for a while, it might be worth thinking about an upgrade eventually, even if performance is okay for now.

Haha, yeah I saw that video! Just wanted to get some solid advice on whether it was time to look for an upgrade.

I've been using a Samsung 970 EVO 1TB as my OS and game drive, which I had for 7 years. I just upgraded to a 990 2TB drive this January, and I still use the EVO for games. As long as you don't push it too hard, your Crucial E100 should last a good while. You might want to think of replacing it in 4 to 5 years, but before then, just clone it to a new SSD when you're ready.
