Hey everyone! I'm a newbie to PC building and want to create a system primarily for gaming at 1080p high settings. I'm planning for longevity, ideally aiming for a build that can also handle 1440p in the future. I've put together a parts list that I hope to use soon, and I'd love any feedback on it!
Here's what I have so far:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT 3.8 GHz 8-Core - €229.99
- **CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Assassin X 90 SE - €20.39
- **Motherboard**: Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II - €117.92
- **Memory**: PNY XLR8 Gaming EPIC-X RGB 32 GB DDR4-3200 - €188.00
- **Storage**: Patriot P300 512 GB NVME SSD - €94.99
- **Video Card**: XFX Swift OC Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB - €429.00
- **Case**: Deepcool CC360 ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower - €50.19
- **Power Supply**: ADATA XPG KYBER 750 W - €87.27
**Total**: €1217.75
I couldn't find any AM4 x3D CPUs, so I'm wondering if my chosen CPU might bottleneck the system, or if I should consider different cooling options instead of the CPU cooler I selected. I'm not very knowledgeable about cases either, so any suggestions on that front would be awesome!
Also, I aim to give my old PC to my partner and get a solid AM4 build to last me through the next few years, ideally for at least five years. I'm not into AAA games much, other than a couple I'd like to run smoothly at 60 FPS. Additionally, I plan to switch to Linux and start dabbling in game development, so I'd love to know if this setup is capable of decent code compiling and 3D rendering. Thanks for any help!

I recently built a system with a 5600X and RX 9070XT and I’m enjoying great performance at 1440p. If gaming is your priority, definitely consider swapping to the RX 9070 XT or at least the 5600X instead of the 5800. AM5 may be a good upgrade later down the line!
Your build looks solid! However, the Ryzen 7 5800XT doesn't offer much more performance than the 5600X, and the latter is much cheaper. If your focus is on gaming, the 5600X could be a better choice. Also, don't forget to check if cooling needs adjusting based on your case airflow!
I didn't realize the performance leap was so small! Since you mentioned CPU-intensive games like Monster Hunter, maybe the 5600X would indeed be enough for what you want.

That sounds great! If you plan to game, I'd highly recommend investing in at least the RX 9070. You’ll see a noticeable difference!
