I'm having a tough time getting my old Dynex TV to connect to my computer using an HDMI cable. The cable works fine on my Switch dock and my roommate's computer, so I know it's not the issue. My computer thinks it's connected and shows that I'm duplicating my screen, but the TV just displays a blue screen with 'no signal.' Additionally, when I try to play audio, nothing comes out of either the computer or the TV speakers. I'm not very tech-savvy and could really use some help to watch movies on it!

It could be the HDMI cable that's causing the issue. Different devices have different HDMI standards. Check what version your TV, computer, and HDMI cable are using, and try to use a cable that meets the highest specifications that they all share. This might solve the problem.
Have you checked the resolution settings on your computer? Sometimes, your main screen's resolution might not be compatible with the TV. Try setting the resolution to something like 1280x720, as many TVs can handle that. Also, if you want to mirror the screens, make sure to set both to a compatible resolution. If you're trying to use extended mode, disable the second screen first, then enable it again in the display settings.
