Help! My New Monitor is Blacking Out in Some Games

I've recently set up my new Asus ROG Strix XG27ACDNG monitor, and I'm facing a frustrating issue. In some games, like CS2, the monitor goes mostly black when I tab out, leaving only a small strip visible on the right side, which I think might be due to using the 4:3 aspect ratio. However, when I switch to TLOU2, the situation is worse since I can only see a tiny part of the bottom of the screen, making the game unplayable. I've tried various solutions but nothing seems to work. Has anyone experienced this issue or have suggestions?

Have you tried adjusting the resolution of your games to match your monitor's native settings? A mismatch could definitely cause display issues. Also, for games that let you toggle full screen and windowed mode, playing around with those settings might help fix the black screen problem. Lastly, you might want to check if there’s a firmware update available for your monitor that could solve compatibility issues.

It sounds like a graphics settings issue. For CS2, if the game is still functioning in the background, you might be able to switch back to your game by alt-tabbing. Have you checked your display settings to make sure the aspect ratio is set correctly? Sometimes games can get jumbled with different resolutions. As for TLOU2, it might be that the game doesn't support your monitor’s settings as it should. I’d recommend checking if there are any game settings you can tweak or even updating your graphics drivers.

This issue seems pretty common with certain monitors and games. If you've already tried changing the resolution and graphics settings, another option could be to change the cable you're using. Sometimes HDMI or DisplayPort cables can cause weird display issues based on the configuration. If you're using an extension or adapter, swapping it out could also make a difference. Good luck!
