Thoughts on My First PC Build?

I've been gaming on my Dell Inspiron laptop for over a year now, and I'm finally making the switch to my first custom-built PC. Here's what I've put together so far:

- **CPU:** Ryzen 7 7800X3D Raphael AM5 4.2GHz 8-Core - $255
- **GPU:** AMD Radeon RX 9070 Challenger Triple Fan 16GB - $600
- **RAM:** VENGEANCE RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 - $200
- **SSD:** Cras C925G 1TB 3D TLC Gen 4 - $180
- **Motherboard:** B850-E TUF GAMING WIFI AMD AM5 ATX - $145
- **PSU:** RM850X SHIFT 850 Watt Gold - $150
- **Case:** FLUX REAR Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower - $100
- **CPU Cooler:** Phantom Spirit 120 SE CPU Air Cooler - $55
- **Fans (2):** be quiet! Light Wings LX 140mm PWM high-Speed - $38

This brings the total to $1,723, but I'm actually getting the CPU, motherboard, and RAM bundle from Micro Center for $600, which feels like a good deal. I'm planning to build it myself and aim to play the most demanding games like Forza Horizon 6 when it comes out, plus some FPS games.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my build! Is anything overpriced or incompatible? Also, I still need to find a monitor, so suggestions are welcome!

Your build looks really good overall! The only changes I’d suggest are swapping the GPU for the 9070 XT—it's just $100 more—and maybe consider a less expensive case like the Phanteks Eclipse G370A, which is about $50 cheaper. Also, the air cooler seems overpriced; I found it for closer to $35 on Amazon. This way, you'll be able to hit 120+ fps on 1440p and might even manage some 4K gaming. One other thing, the PSU Shift may be incompatible with your case, so I recommend going for the regular RMx version.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m going to upgrade to the 9070 XT and switch to the case you recommended. I also looked up that air cooler on Amazon and it’s a better price! Good call on the PSU—it seems likely I’ll need to get the standard version instead.

I think you might want to consider upgrading to the 9070 XT for just a little bit more. Also, if you can swing it, a 2TB SSD could be worth it down the line. For monitors, check out some QD-OLEDs at 1440p like the MSI MAG 272QP or the Samsung Odyssey OLED G5; they’re both solid choices!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely upgrade to the 9070 XT. I’m planning to grab another 1TB SSD if I find I need more storage.
