My PC keeps freezing after upgrading to SSD, any solutions?

I upgraded my PC a while back and started using an SSD for the first time, but now I'm facing a frustrating issue. My computer randomly freezes, with the sound looping rapidly, and I have to reset it to get it back. Recently, I replaced the entire PC except for the old HDD and SSD, yet the freezing has become even more frequent. For instance, when I'm in a game and press continue, it freezes anywhere from 2 seconds to a minute after I start walking around. I'm really looking for advice on how to resolve this problem!

It sounds like this might be a software issue since your hardware is mostly new. I recommend doing a clean install of Windows. Just back up your important files first, then boot up from a Windows installer and set up a fresh copy of the OS. It could really help clear up any conflicts or problems lurking from the past.

Just to add, I noticed this freezing started around the same time you upgraded to SSD, so it might not solely be a system issue. Still, a clean install can't hurt, especially with a new SSD.

This freezing issue might not be just hardware-related. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:
1. Make sure all your software is up to date—this includes your OS and any applications or games.
2. Look through your installed programs and remove the ones you don’t need; some can run background tasks that might cause hiccups.
3. Check the system tray for unnecessary running applications and shut those down if you can.
4. Review your startup items and disable anything that doesn’t need to start automatically when you boot up.
Doing these things can help optimize your setup. If the freezing continues, then we can explore deeper fixes together! Keep us posted.

Thanks! I get what you're saying. The freeze happens often when I'm gaming, but even when just scrolling through Facebook or watching YouTube. It really has become a pain.
