We've just upgraded our internet to 2 gig speed with a PW8 router, and everything is working great except for my son's gaming PC. It gets under 10% of the download speed compared to my Mac and my wife's laptop. Despite trying various fixes—like connecting to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, moving the router closer, using a Cox extender pod, and even using a line extender—the maximum speed we're seeing on his PC is around 50 Mbps while mine can hit up to 900 Mbps. I'm stuck and could use some advice on what to check or try next!

It sounds like the issue might be with the network adapter on your son's PC or some software that's limiting it. Have you checked the settings?
Thanks for the tip! I'll try that next.
Make sure the WiFi card drivers are up to date. Head to the manufacturer's site for the latest, not just the PC brand's. Also, connecting via a cat 5 cable will give a significant boost in performance for gaming too!
Thanks! I'll check the drivers and see about the cable.
Don’t forget to check that the WiFi antennas are properly attached to the PC. If that's good, definitely consider switching to an ethernet connection, or even upgrading to a better WiFi card if it's an option!
Great advice! I appreciate the help. I’ll make sure to check everything out.

Yeah, I was thinking the same! If you can, try connecting the PC directly with a LAN cable to see if that changes anything.
