I'm looking for some recommendations on email security tools. We've been using Trustifi for about three years with no major issues, but as we're approaching renewal, I need to decide whether to stick with them or explore other options. So far, I've done trials for Proofpoint and Avanan, and I'll soon give Barracuda a shot.
Currently, I'm leaning towards Avanan because its interface is really user-friendly, the setup process was a breeze, and I believe it could simplify my administrative tasks compared to the others. However, I don't want to solely rely on first impressions.
What tools is everyone currently using for email security? Is there a standout solution you recommend? I'd really appreciate any real-world feedback, especially from those who have tried multiple platforms!

I'm curious about how Avanan works too. Is it a true gateway or just API-based? I've heard good things. A few years back, they immediately tackled the QR code phishing wave while others were lagging. That was a real highlight for me!
We moved away from Barracuda to an API-based solution, and it's a huge improvement in terms of efficiency, but I do miss having a tangible gateway.
Avanan's inline API system is a plus since it avoids the need to change MX records. However, don’t just choose based on UI; focus on how thoroughly they detect threats, especially with credential phishing. Proofpoint is incredibly effective but pricier. If Trustifi has served you well for three years, perhaps consider sticking with it—switching just because of renewal time might not be the best move.
The big players I've come across in order are Mimecast, Proofpoint, Barracuda, and Checkpoint. I see the most complaints about Mimecast, while I’ve had no real issues with Checkpoint. Proofpoint is a solid choice if you can handle the setup costs, but can be overkill for some organizations.
We've had great success with Checkpoint. It's been fantastic at filtering out phishing emails and spam, and it keeps Outlook clean for users. The setup with Exchange Online was also super straightforward!
