This week my PC suddenly stopped working after I thought I fixed it. It was running fine until I turned it off for the night. The next morning, the RGB lights on the motherboard were on, but it wouldn't boot at all. After a day of troubleshooting, I figured the power supply unit (PSU) had failed. I ordered a new PSU along with a new case, just in case, and a new power board for good measure. By Thursday night, everything powered up nicely. But now it's Sunday and I woke up to the same problem: the motherboard lights up, but it doesn't even attempt to boot. I've tried reseating the 24-pin and 8-pin power cables, running the PC without the old drive, and resetting the CMOS, but nothing works. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

It sounds like your issue might not just be the PSU. If you've had brownouts in your area, that could have caused your computer to fry components, particularly if it was in sleep mode when it happened. It could have been lucky that it only damaged the PSU the first time. I’d suggest getting an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). It can protect your components from power fluctuations, and for $100 to $200 it's a solid investment for your setup. If everything else is okay after the PSU replacement, definitely look into that!

I hear you! It’s frustrating to think you fixed the problem, only to have it pop back up. Just to reassure you, if your PSU is new and the other components are fine, getting a UPS should help prevent this from happening in the future.
