I'm trying to make a decision between getting a 7600X3D for $200 or a 9700X for $280. Here's my current setup: an AMD 9070XT GPU, X870 Stealth motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, powered by an 850W Be Quiet PSU. I mostly play games but occasionally have YouTube or music running in the background. Any advice would be appreciated!

I upgraded from a 3700X to a 7600X3D and it’s been a game changer for me! My frame rates at 1440p are way better since switching from a 2070 Super to a 9070XT too.

The choice really depends on what games you play. If you're into competitive FPS titles, the 7600X3D is great, and you could just use your phone for music or videos. For everything else, the 9700X offers more flexibility for multitasking and background tasks.

Got it, that makes sense. Thanks for the input!

If gaming is your main focus, go with the 7600X3D. It's pretty close to the 7800X3D in terms of gaming performance, which is excellent. But if you do a lot of productivity work along with gaming, the 9700X might be worth the extra cash. It's a bit better for multitasking.

Thanks! I often play games with a movie in the background. Would the 7600X3D still handle that well?

The 7600X3D is pretty solid for your use case. The extra $80 for the 9700X might not be worth it unless you plan to do heavy multitasking. You might also want to consider the 7700X, which is a cheaper 8-core option that performs well both in gaming and productivity.
