Has anyone tried learning with a structured AI coding mentor approach?

Instead of letting AI do everything automatically, I've created a structured method to improve my coding skills. My approach involves using a prompt for my Angular projects where the AI acts as a patient, tutorial-style mentor. It doesn't generate code unless I specifically ask for it, and it guides me step by step through building features. I've laid out specific rules for this interaction, such as never auto-building, breaking tasks down into small steps, explaining the reasoning behind decisions, and correcting me gently if I make mistakes. I'm curious if anyone else has tried this method and found it beneficial. What are your experiences?

Using AI in that way is brilliant! It turns the whole coding experience into more of a two-way conversation rather than just asking for a solution. I find that when I engage with tools like this, it helps solidify my understanding. Good luck with your projects!

Interestingly, this approach could also enhance your coding productivity. I think I might adapt your method for my own projects. Now, I'm wondering if I can plug this into my IDE for live feedback!

I’ve tried something similar, and it really helps to keep the conversation grounded in best practices. Have you considered incorporating documentation references into your sessions? It might help you get familiar with official resources and structure your learning even more!

Definitely give it a shot! I’ve found that having the AI coach you through problems in real-time helps keep you engaged and accountable. Just remember, it’s all about finding the right balance. Good luck!

That sounds like a solid way to learn! I haven't tried it exactly like that, but I can see how breaking things down step-by-step would really help you retain knowledge. More structured guidance can lead to better understanding rather than just relying on the AI to figure everything out for you. Kudos for taking charge of your learning process!
