Can I Recover Lost iMessages After Switching from iPhone to Android?

I'm in a bit of a pickle! My last employer fired me through an iMessage—which I'd really like to recover. The message wasn't just a casual note; it was a formal termination stating my job wasn't a good fit. Fast forward a few weeks, I sold my iPhone and switched to a Google Pixel, and now I found out my former boss is lying about my termination reasons when I filed for unemployment, claiming I was fired for being late or absent.

I used to have iCloud storage and backed up my messages but nothing transferred to my new phone. I can't access my iPhone messages since I sold the device, but I do have an old backup on my laptop from iTunes. The thing is, I'm not sure how to retrieve my messages since I don't own any Apple devices now. I'm considering going to the Apple store, but before that, I thought I'd ask for any ideas or solutions. Thanks for reading!

One option is to get ahold of any recent iPhone, even a lower model. Sign in with your Apple ID, connect to WiFi, and you can restore from your iCloud backup. After it boots up to the home screen, just leave it plugged in for a few hours and check if your iMessages pop back up. Good luck!

Do Apple stores have any kind of demo phones I could use for this? Buying a whole new phone just for a message seems like a hassle.
