I'm about to buy my first PC and I'm torn between two graphics cards: the RTX 5050 with 8GB and the RX 7600 with 8GB. I really want to ensure that my gaming experience is smooth. Can anyone give me some advice on which one to pick or if there are better options out there?

I’d recommend looking at the second-hand market too. You can often find a used RTX 3070 for around $300, and it’ll give you way better performance than both options you're considering. Just a thought!
That’s totally fair. Just remember, the 30 series has dropped in price a lot lately, so if you can find a good deal, it might be worth it.
The RTX 5050 might be your best bet since it’s a bit faster in some scenarios, especially if you have a compatible CPU and motherboard that can support PCIe gen 4. Just keep in mind that it might not be the best value right now compared to older cards.
You should check out some comparison videos online to see how both cards perform in games you like. Here's a link to one that might help you make your decision: https://youtu.be/o_6dyyXnRxM?si=UkXhreeUX_RRH-z6. It gives a pretty good overview of their strengths!
You might also want to consider the Intel Arc B580 with 12GB if you're open to alternatives!
If the prices are close, I’d go for the RTX 5050. It’s slightly better performance-wise and has some cool new features. Plus, it’s a newer generation, which might help with future games. I don’t understand why you find it confusing, though—both cards are quite similar in many respects.
I know they’re similar, but that’s exactly what makes it hard to choose!
Go with the RTX 5050! It'll serve you well with features like DLSS 4.5 and dynamic frame generation. The RX 7600 doesn’t offer the same level of software support, especially with FSR.

Yeah, but I’m hesitant about buying used for my first PC. I’m worried about reliability.
