I've got this older PC setup that's giving me a really strange problem. Basically, it seems like the RAM sticks work fine, but as soon as I take one out and put it back in, they no longer function. The system powers on but doesn't beep or display anything, and the hard drive light keeps flashing. I tested the RAM in another machine, and it also didn't work there. Any idea what could be causing this? I know it's an old DDR3 setup, but this is just odd.

This could be related to the voltage settings if you're using mismatched RAM sticks. I once had a similar issue where I had two pairs of RAM; one pair needed a little extra voltage to remain stable. Even though you mentioned you're using just one stick, you might want to double-check the voltage settings in your BIOS just in case. Sometimes, older boards get finicky with RAM and need a slight adjustment.
