Is My Power Supply Sufficient for Upgrading to a 5080?

I'm currently using a 3080 but thinking about upgrading to a 5080. I have an EVGA GT 1000W 80+Gold power supply. I found some info online stating that since this model may not have a native 16-pin cable, I might need to use the 3x or 4x 8-pin to 1x 16-pin adapter that comes with the 5080. Is it challenging to set this up? I'm not very knowledgeable about power supplies at all.

A 1000W power supply is definitely enough for the 5080. The only time you’d face issues is if you were trying to power both the 3080 and 5080 simultaneously. About the adapters, yes, you’ll likely need one since your PSU doesn’t have the native connector for the 5080.

So, is an adapter like a phone charger for the PSU? I just connect it to the power supply and then to the graphics card, right?
