I'm having some serious performance issues with my ASUS ROG GL553VD laptop. It's equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, 8GB of DDR4, a 256GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD. Even though these specs should handle games like Garry's Mod, Minecraft, and Roblox without breaking a sweat, I'm seeing a lot of lag, especially in fullscreen mode. For instance, Roblox runs fine in windowed mode but drops to about 15-20 FPS in fullscreen, and Garry's Mod doesn't exceed 10 FPS, even at the lowest settings and in the menu. I've set my laptop to performance mode, updated the GPU drivers, and disabled fullscreen optimizations, but nothing seems to fix the problems. The laptop temperature is fine, and these issues occur right when I launch the games, not after prolonged use. I'm also having trouble with DaVinci Resolve, but I'm planning to upgrade my RAM to 16 or 24GB for better performance. Any ideas on what might be causing these issues or has anyone experienced something similar? I'm not super tech-savvy, so detailed explanations would be appreciated!

I recommend checking out a few optimization steps to enhance your laptop's performance. Make sure to fully follow the major steps for optimizing your device, found in various guides. It's crucial to ensure your laptop's settings aren't causing it to throttle. If you are unsure about these steps, I can link you to some resources!
Let me know how it goes, or if you encounter issues applying them!
It sounds like 8GB of RAM might be a bottleneck for your system nowadays. Just out of curiosity, are the games actually running on your GTX 1050 Ti or the integrated graphics? You say you've checked, but sometimes laptops can be tricky about which GPU they use. Also, your i7-7700HQ, while decent, is getting old. Older CPUs can still perform well, but in gaming, the clock speed does matter, especially since many games rely on single-thread performance. As for your drivers, older GPUs like the 1050 Ti often run better on slightly older drivers, so roll back if necessary.
Overall, checking those aspects could help improve your gaming performance!
Thanks for the advice! I focused on verifying the GPU usage and was surprised to find it was using the integrated graphics. Switching to the GTX 1050 Ti made a huge difference. FPS has improved significantly!

Thanks! Trying out those optimization tips really helped! Post-tweaks, GMOD is running at a smooth 200 FPS now. Appreciate the pointers!
