I'm having a frustrating issue with my laptop. Yesterday it was working perfectly fine, but I left it on overnight with a game running, and when I came back this morning, it had turned itself off. Now, my laptop is incredibly slow. It's taking forever to respond to my trackpad and keyboard, apps are frequently freezing with a 'Not Responding' message (like OneNote), and even basic tasks in Chrome, like loading YouTube and scrolling, are super laggy. Sometimes files switch to read-only mode, and simple actions like opening settings look glitchy. I've already tried rebooting multiple times, running sfc /scannow, DISM, and chkdsk (which reported fixing issues). I also applied a Windows update and even reset Windows while keeping my files, but nothing has improved. My SSD shows as healthy, so I'm really confused as to why it was working perfectly just a day ago. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks!

What model is your laptop and how old is it? Also, do you hear the fan running? Sometimes, dust buildup can affect the fan performance, leading to overheating even if it seems open enough.
Leaving your laptop on shouldn't normally cause issues. Have you checked how you're storing it while it’s running? Just a thought—did it have enough ventilation? If it overheated, that could lead to performance drops.
Have you checked for any background processes that might be using up system resources? Sometimes, after updates or resets, things can get funky with your system processes and cause lag.

It was sitting on my desk with the lid open, so I doubt it overheated.
