Hey everyone, I've got a Dell PowerEdge R710 in my home lab, and I recently encountered a boot issue with my RAID controller, which is the H700 model. The error message says that some virtual disks (UDs) are missing, specifically '00'. It warns that if I proceed or access the configuration utility, these virtual disks will be removed from the setup. I vaguely remember that I set up 2-3 drives configured as RAID 0 virtual disks, so they would be separate RAID 0 setups. I'm not at home right now, but I'm concerned about a few things: 1) Are my RAID 0 virtual drives at risk, or is it just the one that's missing? 2) Should I clear the existing configuration or go for the 'import foreign' option? Which of these would give me a better chance of recovery, assuming the drive isn't dead? 3) If I clear the config or import the foreign setup and try to bring the affected drive back online, will that impact the other virtual drives? Thanks in advance!

Keep in mind, RAID 0 offers no redundancy, so if a drive in one of your volumes dies, you’re looking at a data recovery situation. If you press to import the configuration, just be aware that while this can sometimes help, it might also have risks for the remaining drives.
It sounds like your first RAID 0 virtual disk has failed, but your other ones should still be okay. Just keep an eye on your backup situation, especially if all the drives were bought around the same time, as you might face more failures down the line.
1. Your other virtual disks should be fine. Since this is a RAID 0 situation, if a drive fails, you'll need to restore from backup for that specific volume. So make sure your data is backed up if you care about it. 2. If you're looking to preserve your data, the safest bet is to image all your drives before doing anything. If you're okay with just getting the system back up without the data, you can replace the bad drive and recreate the array without too much trouble. 3. Clearing or importing a foreign configuration shouldn't affect your other drives.
