I recently built a gaming PC, and everything was running smoothly until yesterday. My motherboard is the MSI TOMAHAWK B850 MAX WiFi, and the router is right next to the PC, connected via Ethernet. After restarting my PC, I couldn't get an internet connection. I thought it might be a faulty cable, so I bought a new one, but that didn't solve the problem. I tested the router with my laptop, and it worked perfectly fine. However, my PC keeps saying 'Ethernet cable isn't plugged in' when I troubleshoot. I also tried reinstalling the LAN driver (Realtek PCIe 5GbE Family Controller) in Device Manager. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? Is it possible for the Ethernet port on my motherboard to fail overnight?

I had a similar issue with the Realtek driver causing random disconnects. What worked for me was uninstalling the current driver and rolling back to an older version. Windows 11 drivers can sometimes be unstable, so using a Win10/11 combo driver might do the trick.
Check your device manager and see if there are any errors listed for the Realtek LAN driver. Sometimes, the driver might display issues that could give you a clue about what's wrong.

I’ll definitely look into that. I just hope it’s not a hardware issue with the port.
