How to Fix a MacBook Air That Crashes at Boot Due to Too Many Images on Desktop?

Hey everyone! I've got a 2024 MacBook Air running Sonoma. I accidentally set my image sequence export destination to my desktop, and now I have thousands of images causing my computer to crash every time I try to boot it up, even in safe mode. I've tried connecting it to an older MacBook Air to share the disk and move the files, but I couldn't get that connection to work. I'm hoping to find a way to delete some files from the desktop using disk utility in recovery mode, or any method to get my computer to boot up clean without having to wipe the whole hard drive. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Instead of messing with just deleting files, I suggest using the Restore option in Disk Utility to create a clone on an external drive. After that, you can format your internal drive, reinstall macOS, and recover any data you need from the external backup. It's a cleaner solution. Just to clarify, after you clone your data, yes, you'll want to erase the internal drive using the Disk Utility.

You can actually boot into recovery mode, then open the console. From there, you can use command line commands to delete the specific files without relying on the UI, which can crash your system.
