I'm working with a PC that has a Ryzen 5 5500 processor and no integrated graphics. I recently got two monitors but didn't check my graphics card before. It only has one HDMI port and a DVI port. Do I just need to buy a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my second monitor, or am I stuck with just using one?

While DVI to HDMI works, remember that it might limit your resolution and refresh rate to 1080p at best. Before you jump in, check what resolution you're aiming for and if your graphics card has a DisplayPort option!
You can definitely go with the DVI to HDMI cable, but don't forget you have a couple of alternate options. An HDMI splitter could work, or you can even use both output ports, one monitor per port. DVI to HDMI adapters are a solid choice too!
You'll be fine! DVI and HDMI are basically the same electrically, so all you need is an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter to connect your second monitor.

Just a heads up, an HDMI splitter will duplicate the signal, so you'll get the same image on both monitors if you go that route.
