Is the RTX 5070 12GB for $920 CAD a Smart Upgrade?

Hey everyone! I came across the RTX 5070 12GB on sale for $920 CAD at Best Buy. I've been using my 2060 Super for over 5 years, and it's still performing well, but I'm thinking it might be time to upgrade since we're now on the 5th generation of NVIDIA cards. I plan to get better parts later on, so even if I buy it, I won't be integrating this GPU into my setup right away. Is this RTX 5070 worth the $920 right now, or should I hold off until prices stabilize? I also saw a 4070 Ti for $950 CAD, but I've heard mixed things about its value. By the way, regarding CPUs, I have an Intel 10700KF that's been solid too. I'm considering the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X for around $250 CAD as an upgrade but would appreciate any recommendations! RAM and storage aren't on my radar due to high prices right now. Thanks for your help!

I switched from a 2070 to the 5070 last year, and it was a huge upgrade for me. While $920 CAD isn’t the best deal in the US, prices seem higher in Canada, so it sounds reasonable. As for the 9600X, just know that it requires DDR5 RAM and a new motherboard, so if you’re not ready for that leap, it'd be wise to stick with your 10700KF for now.

You might want to think about the 9070 XT for a better price-to-performance ratio, plus it has 16GB VRAM. Just keep your options open!

That’s actually a decent price for the RTX 5070 if you're ready to upgrade. The 4070 Ti can be a bit underwhelming for the price, especially since it lacks some of the newer features and tends to go for more than the 5070 despite being used. If you really want a better card, the 5070 seems worth it!

Also, just a heads up, if you go for the Ryzen 9600X, you’ll need a new motherboard and DDR5 RAM, which can run up to about $500 CAD! So, you might want to hold off on that upgrade until you’re ready for a full overhaul.

Good point! I found an alternative PNY 5070 for $899 CAD without RGB. Is that a better option? Also, could my current CPU hold back performance?
