Is it worth upgrading from a Ryzen 7 5800x to a 5800x3d or another AM4 processor?

I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 5800x paired with a 4070 12GB graphics card, and I'm experiencing some performance issues in GTA 5, especially when playing on RP servers. My FPS stays around 60-80, which feels low considering my setup. I'm trying to figure out whether this is due to a problem with my current build or if I should upgrade to a 5800x3d processor. I have 32GB of RAM and an 850W power supply. Any insights on how to improve performance or if an upgrade would be beneficial?

Diving into your RAM settings in BIOS is crucial. Ensure you're using the XMP profile for speed. Also, keep an eye on your temps while gaming. If they’re too high, it might cause throttling, which can affect performance. You might need a better cooler if that’s the case.

Good point! Throttling can sneak up on you. Make sure your cooling setup is up to the task.

It sounds like there might be some issues with your current setup rather than a need for a new processor right away. With a Ryzen 7 5800x and a 4070, you should typically be hitting above 100 FPS in GTA V, especially on single-player. I’d recommend checking your settings and making sure everything is optimized before considering an upgrade.

Definitely check your graphics settings. If you're using ray tracing or playing in 4K, that could explain the lower FPS.

Yeah, I’ll look into that. I wasn’t using ray tracing, but I’ll make sure all my settings are adjusted properly.
