I visited an Apple Store in Silver Spring, MD, to buy a MacBook Neo with cash, but they didn't have it in stock. The agent suggested I purchase an Apple Gift Card to use online and redeem it in another store. Unfortunately, during the process, the agent redeemed the card into my Apple Account without my knowledge that this would make it non-refundable. Now, the agent couldn't complete the purchase and I was told that once a card is redeemed, it's final and I can't get a refund. I'm left with a balance I can't use and I've tried talking to the store manager and customer support, but no luck. Has anyone else dealt with a similar issue? Are there options for escalation, or should I contact the Maryland Attorney General?

Unfortunately, in-store employees can’t process refunds for redeemed gift cards. I’d suggest contacting Apple Support directly for better assistance. Also, I doubt the Attorney General will take on something like this—there are bigger issues for them to deal with!
