I've recently changed my phone number and my old iPhone SE broke, so I ordered a new iPhone 12 to transfer my data. Now, I'm trying to sign back into my Apple account, but I'm stuck. I used to access my account with an old phone number and a credit card that are no longer active. When I attempted recovery, I selected options for not having access to my devices and phone number. Apple directed me to provide a new phone number for a text message, but they also mentioned they'd send an email to my iCloud, which I can't access either. I'm really confused about how to proceed. Will the instructions for recovery be sent to the new number I provided? Or do I need to visit an Apple store? I want to avoid spending more money on fixing my old phone, but I'm worried about losing this account, especially since I had to sacrifice an Apple account in the past. Can anyone help?

You can check your account recovery status at iforgot.apple.com. Just enter your username (email) and the old phone number. Don't worry; you won't need the original phone number to check the status. This will help you figure out what's going on with your recovery.

Will it send me a text when it's ready for recovery? Then I could sign back into my account, right?
